Dr. Rogerson has been an innovator in the area of arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and has introduced several new techniques to the national Shoulder Arthroscopy Study Group. In addition to authoring several chapters in medical textbooks on arthroscopic surgical technique, Dr. Rogerson has given many presentations to national physician groups and has been particularly active in the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He enjoys teaching other surgeons about arthroscopic surgical techniques and has been a Master Instructor at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago on numerous occasions. As an active member of AANA, Dr. Rogerson served on the Association's Board of Directors from 1996 to 1999. He also served on the Education Committee from 1991 to 1993, and as chairman of the Membership Committee from 1995 to 1999. Dr. Rogerson was the secretary of the Board of Directors of AANA from 2005-2007, vice-chair of the Orthopaedic Learning Center Committee and a member of the Health Policy Committee in 2003 and 2004. His more recent arthroscopic interests include cartilage preservation and regeneration techniques, and arthroscopy of the hip to forestall arthritis. At the other end of the spectrum from the truly minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Rogerson is a well respected reconstructive surgeon of the shoulder and hip. He has been one of area's more active total joint replacement surgeons, utilizing state-of-the-art laminar air flow and hood filtration systems in all of his cases to lessen the potential for infection. He was one of the first surgeons in the region to utilize computer-generated, custom, total joint replacements in selected cases. Currently, he is advancing minimally invasive techniques into the joint replacement area and is a leading physician in Birmingham hip resurfacing. In the last year, he turned over his busy knee practice to his new associate, Dr. James Bowers. Dr. Rogerson and his wife, Cindy, have two children: Kyle and Joanna. Kyle is the owner and creative director of Coniferous, an industrial design firm in Seattle. Joanna is a certified physician assistant and has been working in Dr. Rogerson's office for four years. Cindy has been an active volunteer in the Madison community since arriving in 1976. She worked as the Director of Tourism and Volunteers for the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center for three years. She presently helps out working part-time in Dr. Rogerson's office. |
