How to use these lists. These lists are provided strictly as a starting point for your search. Please see Selecting the Right Surgeon for you. These lists are in no way representative of a list of doctors that I would personally recommend. To find out more about any doctor on this list, go to the Surface Hippy message board, or the new HipResurfacingSite Survey Group to post and ask other patients if they would recommend that particular doctor. Patient feedback is the most important. Or do a search for that doctor by name and read the prior feedback from other patients, you will find both positive and negative feedback on some of the doctors, then you can come to your own conclusions. For a complete list of ALL doctors scroll to the bottom of the page for two downloadable spreadsheets provided by Ron van Mierlo one for the U.S. and one for overseas. Below is a list of doctors that I have heard positive feedback from patients and/or know that they have done a good number of hip resurfacing procedures. Remember, numbers alone do NOT tell the whole story and it is impossible for the numbers listed to be the most up to date. I need to hear from the surgeons themselves as to what their actual numbers are in order to update the list. Skill and success/failure rates should also be taken into consideration. The doctors with * next to their name means they offer free email consults. For an email consult you must attach your most recent x-rays (within 90 days) along with a brief health history, age, weight, medical conditions, meds you are on, symptoms. Do not send an email without the above information. If you are aware of a surgeon that has done at least 100+ hip resurfacings with excellent results and not a lot of failures or problems, please email me the information.
